Aortic stenosis (AS) is characterized as a high-risk index for cardiac complications during noncardiac surgery. The American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association guidelines define severe AS as aortic valve area ≤1 cm2, mean gradient of ≥40 mm Hg, and peak velocity of ≥4 m/s. As per current clinical practice, any of these characteristic features label a patient as at high risk. Sir, Anesthesia in severe aortic stenosis (SAS) can result in rapid clinical deterioration and patient mortality. The current American College of Cardiology (ACC) guidelines recommend aortic valve surgery[] before elective noncardiac surgery in symptomatic SAS some clinical circumstances, aortic valve surgery cannot be performed due to high surgical risk or patient refuses aortic.

Monitoring in Anesthesia and Perioperative Care is a practical and comprehensive resource documenting the current art and science of perioperative patient monitoring, addressing the systems-based practice issues that drive the highly regulated health care industry of the early twenty-first century. Initial chapters cover the history, medicolegal implications, validity of measurement and.   (See "Anesthesia for coronary artery bypass grafting surgery" and "Anesthesia for aortic surgery requiring deep hypothermia".) General considerations during the perioperative period for patients undergoing cardiac surgical procedures and cardiopulmonary bypass .

Anesthesia and Perioperative Care for Aortic Surgery by Kathirvel Subramaniam (Editor); Kyung W. Park (Editor); Balachundhar Subramaniam (Editor) Call . Perioperative care is established in patients with asymptomatic aortic stenosis and/or those undergoing low-risk surgery. However, further preoperative testing or aortic valve replacement prior to noncardiac surgery should be discussed individually with the patients awaiting urgent surgical procedures who are at medium or high risk.
